(Recommended by T\u00e6kniheimur for T.I.M)<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Honeywell PTM7950 Phase Change Thermal Pad is widely recognized to be <strong>the best-performing thermal interface material in the world.<br \/>\n<\/strong>It is designed especially for high-performance chips requiring exceptional thermal performance, durability, and reliability.<\/p>\n<p>PTM7950 is based on a novel polymer PCM system, that allows the material to change states between being wet and dry, but keeping it&#8217;s stable physical form at the same time.<br \/>\nSince the material is a Pad not a liquid, it is immune to the &#8220;Pump out effect&#8221; and it maintains it&#8217;s performance for up to\/over a decade, and<strong> requires no maintenance.<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Nvidia and Lenovo have been using PTM7950 for their top-of-the-line flagship GPUs and gaming laptops for years now with exceptional results.<br \/>\nBoth T\u00e6kniheimur and our colleges overseas have had great results replacing the Liquid Metal on the PS5&#8217;s APU with PTM7950The PS5 maintains it&#8217;s stock thermal performance and in some cases, <strong><strong>even shows better thermal performance than with Liquid Metal.<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/strong><em><em><em><strong>&#8211; We highly recommend PTM7950 for the PS5 since it eliminates all the issues that come with the Liquid Metal TIM.<\/strong><\/em><\/em><\/em>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Liquid Metal T.I.M<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nEven though Liquid Metal reigns supreme in thermal conductivity, it requires a lot more maintenance than other TIM&#8217;s and it causes oxidation on the APU&#8217;s Silicon and Cooling element.<br \/>\nBeing made of metal, it is highly conductive and will easily cause a short\/burnout if it gets out from it&#8217;s containment &#8220;well&#8221; around the APU in the PS5.<\/p>\n<p>The LiquidMetal TIM solution has also <strong>been causing widespread issues with the PS5<\/strong> consoles <strong>causing them to start overheating<\/strong> as they get older.<br \/>\nThe issue mostly lies in that the PS5 console is meant to be stood up vertically, which in turn flips the APU (that uses the Liquid Metal TIM) on to it&#8217;s side.<br \/>\nGravity takes over and the <strong>Liquid Metal material starts drooping down causing &#8220;dry spots&#8221; on the APU Silicon<\/strong>, causing overheating issues.Prolonged high &#8220;hot spot&#8221; temperatures can <strong>possibly damage the APU<\/strong> with out proper maintenance for too long.<\/p>\n<p>If using Liquid Metal, T\u00e6kniheimur highly recommends to always both store and use the PS5 console in a horizontal position, laying it on it&#8217;s side.<br \/>\nIt will not impede usability or thermal performance in any way, but it will greatly reduce the likelihood of the formation of dry spots on the APU.<\/p>\n<p>We also highly recommend to <strong>inspect the Liquid Metal on the APU at least once a year<\/strong> for proper maintenance.<br \/>\nLiquid Metal dry spots can also appear because of the &#8220;Pump Out Effect&#8221; even if the console is kept horizontal<\/li>\n<\/ul>",
